Qubbos - Checkout Customizations & Page Speed

What is Qubbos?
Qubbos is a Spanish e-commerce store specializing in home appliances and electronics. They offer a wide variety of products from leading brands, including both large appliances (like refrigerators and washing machines) and small appliances.
The Challenge
Qubbos faced two main challenges:
1. Complex Service Logic
The store required a sophisticated delivery and installation system that needed to handle multiple service options based on various criteria:
- ZIP code-based delivery zones with different service availability
- Product-specific installation requirements (e.g., fridges, ovens, washing machines)
- Variable pricing for installation services by product type
- Delivery restrictions for certain items (stair access, removal services)
- Dynamic delivery times based on warehouse proximity (2-4 days vs 4-10 days)
To address this complexity, I implemented a dynamic system using Shopify metaobjects to manage ZIP code data and service rules. This allowed us to automatically present customers with only relevant service options during checkout and on the product page.
2. Performance Issues
The site was experiencing significant performance problems regarding pagespeed. I went though the site, optimized image loading, bundled together important css, moved less important scripts to the end of the loading (making the visual parts load quicker) and removed unused apps.
